ELI CARVAJAL // PRESS KIT
Connection songs that bare the light between us.

Open-hearted, wide-eyed and playful, London singer-songwriter Eli Carvajal writes of lived experience in intimate, intense detail. Fingerpicking left-handed on an upside-down guitar, he unwinds his story-songs in layers around shimmering open tunings. His fifth album, Eyen Forever (Safe Suburban Home, 2025), was recorded in his Tokyo bedroom with Mount Fuji just visible in the distance. It closes a two-album diary of loss and love from his two and a half years in Japan.

BIO
Open-hearted, wide-eyed and playful, London singer-songwriter Eli Carvajal writes of lived experience in intimate, intense detail. Fingerpicking left-handed on an upside-down guitar, he unwinds his story-songs in layers around shimmering open tunings.
Eli’s humour runs through his postmodern writing: absurd details sit right beside raw confession.
Born in New York and raised in London, Eli studied Music at the University of Manchester. He began releasing solo work with the Spark EP in 2017, then self-recorded and released three albums in two years: Incubabies (2020), built around a 1996 cassette of his mother having her fortune told; Maiden Name (2021); and Feeling (2021), made entirely of first takes on cassette.
In 2022 a whirlwind romance took him to Tokyo, where he found work teaching English, singing and songwriting. His fourth and fifth albums, Eat Shiitake Now (2024) and Eyen Forever (Safe Suburban Home, 2025), were both recorded in his bedroom in Higashikitazawa with Mount Fuji just visible in the distance. He recorded with the windows open, so typhoon thunder, cicadas and the city’s 5 o’clock bell all made it into the mix. Together they form a two-album diary of loss and love from his two and a half years in Japan: arriving, rooting, saying goodbye.
Now back in London, he is playing live and working on a new album.
